Iron chloride and sulphate.-Iron is volatilized in the form of chloride from tin ores by treating the ore, after partial reduction, with hydrochloric acid gas at a temperature of 400-500‹ C. ; or the iron may be removed from the partly-reduced mass by lixiviation with hydrochloric or sulphuric acid.
