Abstract

6871. Greiner, F. March 18. Jet-wheels; driving and transmission mechanism, special applications of; regulating.-In a turbine used as engine turning-gear, the nozzle m is carried by a slide c which acts as a valve to the admission passage. The slide is connected to the inlet valve g for compressed air or carbonic-acid gas, and is moved by a lever f simultaneously with the inlet valve. Springs h normally hold the slide in a raised position. A controlling-valve l is placed between the inlet valve and the admission passage. In a modification, the turbine-wheel is carried in the slide and gears through friction wheels with the main engine fly-wheel.
