The supplementary air supply to a carburettor is controlled by two valves, one connected to the throttle valve of the engine and the other to a centrifugal governor, to a diaphragm subject to the pressure of the circulating water, or to other means dependent on the speed of the engine. The casing f surrounds the nozzle g, and has outlets h to the engine. The inner cylindrical valve p is connected by suitable gear to the throttle valve, and the outer valve m by a lever n and link t to a diaphragm k acted upon by a spring r and the pressure of the circulating water.
