Gas or explosive-vapour engines.-In a fourstroke-cycle engine, water is drawn into the cylinder with the air through the valve B, which is situated above the exhaust valve C, and falling on the latter becomes vaporized, thus absorbing heat and preventing the premature ignition of the vapour, which enters simultaneously through the axial passage H from the carburetter J. The carburetter comprises two chambers F, H, separated by a valve F which is worked by the tappet which works the oil and water pumps N, 0 through a distance-piece under the control of the governor. The oil and water are supplied in excess to their respective valves G, R, the overflow being ccnducted away by the pipes Q, S.
