Ordnance design; twin guns; breech mechanism; adapting for miniatureammunition practice.-Relates to guns of the kind described in Specification 9065/13, in which the excess mass required for recoil is furnished by an auxiliary barrel of smaller calibre, adapted to be fitted, when in use, inside the main barrel and to be housed outside the main barrel when this is in use. According to the present invention, the auxiliary barrel is fixed permanently outside the main barrel, and a single breech-block serves for both. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the auxiliary barrel b is fixed in hoops c, d on the main barrel a, and the two barrels have a common breech-block e adapted to be displaced vertically, to close either barrel, by a rack and pinion g, h, Fig. 3, operated by a handle j.
