Abstract

6347. Trõger, H., and Weiss, J. April 21, 1913, [Convention date]. Grips, friction. - A socket joint or coupling applicable for securing a tool in a handle or holder or for coupling two rods &c., of the type in which an eccentric tubular member or socket such as b mounted to rotate in a handle or holder &c. a receives the tang or end f of a tool &c. and secures it by a rotary movement of the socket b on or against a projection such as d, has the hole in the holder a eccentric so that, when the eccentric socket b is turned to the locking position, Fig. 2, the tang &c. f is concentric with the body of the holder &c. a. The socket b has a slot c engaging the end of the projection d, and when the socket is turned to lock the tool &c. f, the projection enters a recess g therein. The projection may be on the end of a screw as shown. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) states also that the invention is applicable, among other things, to joints for furniture and other structures, for connecting sections of tent and flag or like poles, tubing, diopters of guns, for securing wheels and cranks on shafts &c., and fixing gas brackets, gaseliers, &c., and for holding dental instruments &c. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
