Brackets; electric - lamp. - A clamping - device for locking the joints of electric light fittings &c., and shown applied to a scribing - instru - ment comprises two tubes e, b<1> crossing 0 n e another and containing two pairs of balls f, i, the balls f being forced apart to operate clutch members k, n by turning a screw pin h which bears on one of the balls i, the other ball i being retained in position in the tube e by a screw plug g; simultaneously, the tube b<1> is locked against rotation in a tubular member b. The clutch member k co-operates with a fixed member l to lock the head b, b<1> to the tool post a, and the clutch member n serves to lock the scriber o in the head. One or both of the balls i may be dispensed with and the screw pin h or plug g provided with a rounded inner end for co-operating with the balls f.
