Abstract
16,504. Pomeroy, A. J. July 15. Fixing by detachable sockets with bayonet-joint locking - devices. - Relates to broom and brush handle fixings of that type in which a socket is fastened to the brush by a projecting flange screwed to the stock and is adapted to receive the lower end of the handle, the two parts being held together by a bayonet-joint. The device is so constructed that the socket c does not project below the base-plate d, thereby obviating the necessity of a hole in the broom a. The cap g on the handle b is fitted with pins f to engage the bayonet-slots e of the socket, and in the form shown in Fig. 2, the joint is locked by a screw i inserted in a hole in the cap. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the bayonet-slots e have upright extensions e<1>, and a spring k is provided in the socket or on the end of the handle for locking the joint. A further locking-device comprises a projection on the socket which enters a detent in the cap when the handle is turned into position.
