Abstract

4282. Terry, A. E. Feb. 19. Pocket and like knives.-Relates to knives in which the blade is held in the closed position by a spring catch and is automatically opened or partially opened when the catch is released. The catch 13, which engages in a notch 14 in the blade, is formed by bending sideways a portion of a spring plate 9, which is mounted on the pivot 6 between the two halves of the handle and is preferably disposed flat against the tang or shank of the blade. The spring plate 9 is provided with a push-button 11, which passes through a recess 15 in the blade and through one side of the handle, as shown.
