3898. Britton, J. W., and Gas Meter Co. Feb. 14. Gas-meters. - A dry gas-meter comprises an horizontal cylindrical portion a, a cylindrical base b, and a cylindrical valve chamber c. The diaphragms d are clamped between metal disks e and are detachably connected to metal rings k by means of a wire ring m and a soft metal band l adapted to be bent round the wire. The diaphragms are connected to the cranked rods h, by which the motion is communicated to the valves, by means of slotted arms g and rollers i, i', i' on stems f. The slide valves n, n<1> are mounted in alinement and move over ports o<2>, o<3> on the upper wall of an exhaust chamber y, through which the ports o<2> lead directly to the measuring - chambers. The spindle by which the index is actuated is provided with a long socket u and washer v to guard against leakage. Means may be provided for adjusting the crank-actuating links on the upper ends of the rods h.
