Abstract

2952. Hunt, E. J., and Gidden, W. T. May 19, 1913. Zinc sulphate solution, which be obtained by neutralizing with crude zinc oxide or carbonate the acid liquors produced in the electrolysis of zinc sulphate, is purified from ferrous iron and manganese by treating with lead peroxide or red lead preferably under the influence of heat. b. An alkali, a metallic oxide such as zinc oxide, or a carbonate such as calcium or zinc carbonate may be added to complete the precipitation, and the solution may be further purified by zinc or zinc dust. Specification 5579/81 is referred to.
