Abstract

Iron hydrates; iron carbonates; zinc sulphide; basic zinc sulphate. - Iron is precipitated from liquors containing iron and zinc, for example those resulting from the wet-copper process, bv adding an equivalent quantity of calcium carbonate and by blowing air through the liquor. The zinc may be recovered as basic sulphate by precipitating with lime, or as zinc white. Chalk, whitening, or Chance waste may be used as the precipitant.
