1199. Gass, W. G. Jan. 16. Roller machines.-The movable roller of machines for washing, macerating, or crepeing rubber &c. is carried by pivoted arms adjnstable by screw - bolts. The movable roller b is carried by arms f which are pivoted to the frame at g and are adjusted by bolts h and nuts i so as to vary the nip between the rollers a, b. The nuts i may be formed as hand-wheels. Both nuts may be turned simultaneously. In the form shown, the nuts are formed with teeth gearing with worms j on a shaft k turned by a hand-wheel upon it or by worm gearing provided with a hand - wheel q. The screws h may be locked by hooked plates a<1> engaging with holes in the bolt heads bl.
