Abstract

Locking nuts.-A lock-nut fastening of the kind described in Specification 13,915/10 is used for connecting a crank to the crank and pedal spindles of a cycle. A circular undercut recess is formed in the boss of the crank to receive a spigot e the head of which is partly or wholly housed in a wider and shallow recess in the face of the crank boss. The crank or pedal spindle is threaded to engage the inside of the spigot, while the spindle behind the spigot may be either threaded or formed so as to engage the crank non-rotatably. The threads of the respective cranks may be right and left handed so that the action of pedalling tends to tighten the spigot elements against the cranks. The adjustable cones i, j are also constructed as lock-nuts as described above.
