Refining sugar; waste sugar, recovering.-In the manufacture of " aerated " sugar, such as is referred to in Specifications 28,297/03 and 4112/04, heated syrup or juice is passed through a crystallizing-chamber from which the sugar flows, or is sucked in an air current, to a fan, whereby the sugar is reduced to a fine powder, cooled, dried and, in the case of beet sugar, freed from its smell &c. The fan discharges through a cyclone separator, and sugar dust is recovered from the air by steam and water jets. The sugar may pass to a screen or disintegrator &c., which may be used with an air blast and separator. Specification 13,602/14, [Class 32, Distilling &c.], also is referred to.
