Abstract

250,291. Laing, B., and Nielsen, H. Nov. 27, 1924. Preparing materials for separation by heat treatment. - Raw carbonaceous materials are subjected to heat treatment between 250-350‹ C. before slates, stones or other foreign impurities loosely admixed therewith are separated by usual dry methods. A retort such as that described in Specification 212,961, [Class 34 (ii), Drying systems &c.], may be used, volatiles being recovered, and in the case of caking coals agglomeration of the pure and impure materials may be effected, grinding or crushing taking place before the actual separation step.
