Mosaics.- A sheet of glass &c. on which a design is drawn and suitably coloured with polychromatic enamels is fired; the glass is then backed with paper and cut up into large or medium-sized pieces by a sand-blast in such a way as to leave the paper backing intact. The channels thus formed are filled up with cement and the backing is removed.
