Metal-heating furnaces.-A furnace for heating pieces of copper to be subsequently welded, consists of a closed vessel or muffle of refractory material, on the bottom of which is placed a layer of charcoal for preventing contact of the copper with the vessel and creating a non-oxidizing atmosphere when the muffle is inserted in a furnace.
