Damping - arrangements; modifying scale of readings.-Apparatus for reducing and damping at high speeds the movements of the pointer of speed indicators of the fan type comprises a brake disk g and a pinion mounted on the indicator spindle. Gearing with the pinion is a toothed sector i to which is secured a spring k pressed upon the brake disk as the sector moves. An auxiliary spring j is adapted to be engaged by the sector at high speeds, an adjustable stop m being provided to cooperate therewith. The spring k may be provided in duplicate to allow rotation in both directions.
