Speed indicators.-Apparatus for indicating excessive speed on railway curves consists of a pendulum a pivoted at f and forked at its lower end to carry on a spindle d a disk c and a pinion e, which gears with a rack q. The movements of the pendulum are damped by a second pendulum k pivoted at l to the main pendulum and forked at its lower end, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. A pin m on the pendulum a serves to operate hands p, which register the movements of the pendulum and indicate whether the safe speed for the curve has been exceeded. The pendulum k may be replaced by other damping-devices, and the movement of the pendulum may serve to operate electric alarms.
