21,060. Carvell, J. M., Chapman, W. G., and Scaplehorn, J. J. Sept. 18. Tourniquets.-A tourniquet comprises a pad a of vulcanite or hard wood to which is secured a metal plate b having an eye b<1> at one end and a hook b' at the other, whereby buckles may be attached to the pad. The buckles, through wbich the ends of a webbing strap c are passed, are of the automatic frictiongrip type described in Specification 14,956/95, [Class 43, Fastenings, Dress], and consist of a U-shaped member d, Fig. 3, pivoted to a frame e, the edge e<2> of which co-operates with the bevelled bar d' of the frame d to grip the band c. Tabs f, f<1> attached to the centre bars of the frames e serve to release the band when desired. In a modification, the pad a and metal plate b are replaced by a single member made of aluminium. In either form, the edge b<1> may be replaced by a second hook, so that both buckles may be detachable. The band c may be coloured differently on the two sides and may be double and stitched to form loops through which pencils &c. may be passed to lock the parts positively in position.
