Metal boxes for powder, paste, &c. are provided with a lever c, Figs. 1 and 3, having a tongue-piece c<2> adapted to be passed through a hole d in the body or in the lid and with a U-shaped part c<1> adapted to bear against and raise the lid when the lever is raised or lowered. Fig. 4 shows a modified form of lever having a tongue c<2> adapted to be passed through the hole in the box and bent over.
