Abstract

Stopping pipes and tubes.-In a boiler-tube stopper of the type comprising an expansible head G expanded by longitudinal movement of an internal conical member F, provision is made to water-cool the device. The member F is adjustably mounted on a. central tubular rod E, provided with orifices U. The head G is in segments held in place by a split spring H. Packing-rings I, J, 0 are provided, with tubular distance-pieces K, L, the member L having openings S. The device is operated by a cap nut P bearing on a member M having packing N which bears against the tube plate A. Water or steam finds its way through the rupture R in the tube and through openings S, U. In a modification, the content member F is integral with the rod E.
