Pressure - relieving devices for fhcids.-- Apparatus for preventi n g hammer - blow from being caused in water pipes by the sudden closing o f valves comprises a cylinder A provided with a cup-shaped piston B held in its normal position by a spiral spring C. The bottom of the cylinder is provided with an internally screwed hollow boss F for attachment of the apparatus to the water pipe, the internal diameter of the boss being as large as that of the pipe to which it is connected.
