Abstract

16,349. Stibbe, G. July 16. Stop-motions. - In electric stop-motions for knitting-machines, a tensioned spring 1 or a chain tensioned by a spring is employed to make rubbing contact with an insulated bar 3 when the tension of the yarn b becomes unduly increased, thereby closing an electric circuit. A suitable relay device such as that described in Specification 12,727/88 may be used to effect the stoppage of the machine and also the resetting of the thread-controlling members. The use of the spring 1 or the like causes the contact faces to be cleaned when making contact. A number of contact members may be arranged together in the casing 5, which is enclosed to prevent the access of fluff, lint, &c. as far as possible. In another arrangement, to be applied at the feeder, weighted faller wires d or knotcatchers are so placed that a diminution in tension or the contact of a knot with the knotcatcher causes arms such as 17 to contact with a stationary tensioned spring &c. 12.
