Lift valves; actuating.-The valve a is provided with a balancing-piston d' and an annular extension a<2> which provides a small shoulder a<1> upon which the fluid-supply acts. An adjustable sleeve a<3> is screwed into the extension a<2> and is engaged by a link or pin e secured to an operating-lever f mounted on the valve casing. The arm f<1> of the bell-crank is provided with taper surfaces f<2>. A lever k, fitted with similar taper surfaces k<1>, is mounted above the bellcrank. The taper surfaces of the levers k, k<1> are engaged by rollers l, m, m<1> on a rocking-lever h, connected to the engine controlling-gear to close and open the valve.
