Abstract
2350. Morley, H. W. Jan. 30. Linkage gears. -In a steam or other fluid - pressure engine fitted with piston valves, the valve spindle a, Fig. 1, is reciprocated from the eccentric-rod p, through the bell-crank lever g and link f, and the driving end of the lever is arranged obliquely to the valve spindle in its mid-position so that equal angular movements of the lever from this position produce less linear movement of the valve when closing than when opening. A shaft governor may be connected to the admissionvalve eccentric; and several valves may be operated by one eccentric by connecting-up the corresponding levers.
