Regulating delivery by varying speed and power of motors.-In apparatus for controlling the supply of fluid energy to a motor driving a pump, actuated by the delivery pressure, means are provided which keep the valve of the motor closed until the pressure has fallen to a predetermined level. A piston e, loaded by a spring f and open to the delivery pressure at d, bears upon the spindle of a valve i controlling the supply of fluid energy to the motor driving the pump, holding it closed when the pressure is sufficiently high. In this position, the nose q of a detent n pivoted at o engages a projection r on the valve stem. As the pressure falls, the piston e rises and a cross-head t bearing on a roller v on the detent n withdraws the nose q and allows the valve i to open under the influence of a spring m. If desired, a relay valve h actuating an auxiliary piston l may be interposed between the piston e and valve i.
