Pocket a n d like knives.-The tang of the blade has projections 13, 14 of the shape shown, w h i c h engage correspondingly - shaped surfaces 16, 17 on the spring, so that the blade is held securely in the open and closed positions. The face 11 of the tang is nearer to the pivoted axis than the faces 9, 10, so that the spring is slack when the blade is half opened, and the blade may be then removed. When opening or closing the blade, the inclined or cam surfaces move over the concave part 15 between the inclines 16, 17 on the spring. The spring is tapered towards its end, and has means, preferably a projection or stop 20, to prevent contact with the edge of the blade.
