Abstract

4328. Smith, A. T. Feb. 20. Spring wheels with sectional outer guided members.-The thick hub 4 carries a pneumatic or solid rubber cushion 5 supporting curved saddles 22 on the ends of hollow spokes 20 of rectangular section. Interlocking rectangular guide members 16, 17, Fig. 4, are formed on two outer rings 9, 12 bolted together and joined by arms 8, 11 to two rings 7, 10 respectively permanently and detachably fixed to the sides of the hub. Shoes 24 on the spokes are connected by a single central series of slotted links 25 and have lips 32 engaging the sides of a continuous solid elastic tyre 15. A rib 36 on the shoe enters a recess in the base of the tyre which is secured further by embedded bolts 35.
