Abstract
2379. Lake, W. E., [Cottrell & Sons Co., C. B.]. Jan. 29. Set-off, preventing.-In delivery apparatus of the kind having an endless sheetdelivery carrier, such as gripper chains 5, to grippers 6 on the underside of which the sheets are fed by tapes 2, the slip sheets are also fed simultaneously from above the delivery carrier, past a dropping-roller 15 and guides 16, to the same grippers 6 as the printed sheets, to be delivered above them. The printed sheets pass from the impression cylinder between positively-driven rollers 3, 4 to the tapes 2, and into the grippers 6, which are opened by fixed cams, and closed by springs. The slip sheets are fed from a table 10 to stops 18 carried by a shaft 14 having arms 13 in which the dropping-roller 15 is pivoted. At the right time; the shaft 14 is turned by a cam so as to lower the stops 18 and press the sheet between the feed-roller 11 and dropping-roller 15, thus forwarding the sheet along the guides 16 to the grippers 6.
