Clutches, friction; securing clutches on shafts. -In cone clutches, the driving-shaft 1 carries an eccentric sleeve 3 which engages within a similar sleeve 7 to which it is connected by springs 9. The sleeve 7 carries a cone 11 engaging a cone 12 on a boss 13 on the driven shaft 2, the boss also being coned internally, if desired, to engage the coned exterior of the sleeve 7. Bars 14, 15 may be secured to the part 7, 13 to produce a jamming action between the parts. Engagement of the clutch surfaces causes relative rotation of the sleeves 3, 7 which creates additional radial pressure between the clutch surfaces.
