Sashes balanced by springs.-In windowbalancing devices of the kind in which the suspension cords k are wound upon fusees a containing coiled springs, the fusees are mounted in a frame which is furnished with -extensions h sliding in guides and is capable of being moved to take up any initial difference in the cables, the frame being then secured in position by screws passing through clamping-bars n. A pair of fusees are employed, coupled together by gears c, chains, &c. A modification is described in which the two fusees are mounted face to face with a single coiled spring between them.
