[Addition to 28,091/12.] Mantle-supports.-In a modification of the incandescent burner described in the parent Specification, in which a mantle of the inverted type is supported on the glass globe and an upright burner tube enters the mantle from below, the neck of the globe is provided with a metal sleeve, or the globe is formed in two parts, or is supported at its upper end on a frame on the burner, and the mantle ring is supported on a restriction in the upper end of the globe or on an angular metal ring resting on the globe or on a frame. In one form, the mantle ring, instead of being mounted on the globe, is supported upon a metal ring of angular cross-section fitted upon the upper ring of a frame consisting of two rings connected by wire rods, the lower ring being secured to a sleeve on the.burner tube. In a second arrangement, the mantle is supported on an annular metal ring on the annular extension g, Fig. 7, of the globe. In some cases, the ring comprises an annular part u screwing on an inner part t fitting on the annular extension g so as to enable the height of the mantle to be adjusted. In a third arrangement, inclined radial ribs k<1>, Fig. 5, on the mantle ring h rest on a restriction g<2> at the upper part of the globe and are guided in a bowl-shaped portion g'.
