Abstract

17,428. Still & Sons, W. M., and Still, E. H. July 22. Incandescent gas burners; mantle supports.- A cup-shaped mantle support e, Fig. 1, fits on the lower cylindrical end b of an inverted burner, and is provided with internal lugs f for engaging bayonet-grooves d in an enlarged part c of the burner. A ring k, screwed on the burner tube, or capable of being slid downwards thereon by co - operating cam - surfaces v, w, Fig. 2, on the ring and on a flange x on the burner, prevents shaking or disengagement of the mantle-support, and closes the passage between it and the burner when forced downwards upon the mantle - support. The mantle is secured round an external bead h on the mantlesupport. The downwardly-projecting part of the burner may be formed with a second enlargement n having a curved surface, and may have a slightly and downwardly tapering bore.
