Abstract

26,885. Vereinigte Dampfturbinen Ges. Nov. 22. [Addition to 3931/12.] Regulating.-Relates to governing-mechanism of the kind described in the parent Specification in which an inlet valve h, Fig. 1, is controlled by a speed governor k and also by the pressure fluctuations between the valve h and the inlet nozzles. In the parent Specification, the regulation was inoperative for small fluctuations, but in the present case the device is sensitive to small fluctuations, but inoperative to sudden shocks. The oil valve g and pistons i, m are similar to those in the parent case, but the piston c, subjected to the pressure at a, is rigidly connected to the valve g. To render the device inoperative to sudden shocks, the piston c is connected to a fluid brake f by means of a dash-pot e or other lost motion device. The piston c may be replaced by a flexible diaphragm.
