Abstract

17,615. Vereinigte Dampfturbinen Ges. Aug. 6, 1910, [Convention date]. Regulating.-The valve 7 controlling the supply of steam from a vessel 3 to a low-pressure turbine 1 is governed by mechanism responsive to speed changes and to pressure variations. The valve-rod 8 is moved by a piston 22, which is pressed upwards by a spring 28 and downwards by oil introduced into the space 23 at the pressure existing in the vessel 3. A second piston 12 independent of the piston 22 is controlled by the governor 16 through a servomotor 17, This piston 12 forces the piston 22 downwards to close the valve 7 when the speed of the turbine rises, and rises the piston 22 following it under the action of the spring 28 when the speed falls. The oil in the space 23 closes the valve 7 when the steam pressure becomes abnormal.
