Mud-guards carried by wheels. - Lateral splash guards for m o to r and other vehicles comprise a disk or circular member A provided with a central aperture C substantially larger in diameter than the axle, box, cap, or hub of the wheel, upon which it is directly slipped and loosely retained, the size of the aperture and the weight of the disk ensuring that the disk is always in contact with, and supported by, the road surface, and the aperture allowing a free up-and-down and a corresponding lateral movement of the disk independently of the vehicle wheel. As shown in Fig. 3, the guard has additional apertures B', B<2> to engage pegs F<1>, F<2> or the like on the body or spokes of the wheel in such manner that the disk can slide freely on its fixings but is retained in position by a stop or plate D secured to the pegs. More than two additional holes and a corresponding number of pegs may be used. Distance-pieces to prevent the guard from rubbing the wheel may also be provided.
