Abstract

[Cognate Application, 27,364/12.] Spindle apparatus; spindle-driving apparatus. -Spindles for spinning and twisting machines, of the class wherein the wharl is mounted on ball bearings, are provided with a single ring of balls E arranged in the direction of the pull of the driving - band between the wharl and the spindle bearing or socket b<2>. The wharl may be connected to the spindle by means of a catch-plate, as shown in Fig. 1, or may be rigidly attached thereto and the spindle loosely mounted in its bearing, as shown in Fig. 2. In the first Provisional Specification, it is stated that more than one ball bearing may be interposed between the wharl and the spindle socket, and that a ball or other antifriction bearing may be interposed between the bottom of the wharl and the oil-cup.
