Synthetic resins are obtained by treating a dihydrobenzene or a homologue or ring isomer thereof, or compounds which rise to these bodies, with suitable condensing-agents, while avoiding too violent evolution of heat. In examples # - - I : 3 - dihydrobenzene, 1 - methyl- # -1 : 3-dihydrobenzene, 1: 2-dichlorcyclohexane, and dichlormethylcyclopentane, are used. Dichlormethylcyclopentane is obtained by chlorinating the fraction of Caucasian petroleum boiling at 68-73‹ C.
