Abstract

20,252. Electric and Ordnance Accessories Co., Ralph, G., and Cox, W. G. H. Sept. 5. Resistances for heating or other purposes. Grids of stiff wire or sheet metal are strengthened by rods of insulated metal or of insulating material which are held by turnedover or looped parts of the grids. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the strengthening-member consists of a wire b covered with asbestos c, over which parts a' of the grid are bent. A wire grid may be similarly constructed. The strengthening-wire b may be replaced by a metal strip. In a modification shown in Fig. 8, alternate strips of the grid are raised at a<1> to allow the strengthening-member b, c to be threaded through the grid; a wire grid may be arranged similarly and the ends of the wire wound around the strengthening - members. Stamped metal terminals may be soldered or clamped to the wire.
