Chairs; chairs with separate jaws; chairs, securing to sleepers; sleepers, composite.-Jaws 14 on the chair have pins 13 entering some of a series of apertures in a base-plate 10, and the chair rests on a cushion block 7. The securing- bolts 5 engage a plate 4 provided with threaded apertures and embedded in the sleeper. With wooden sleepers, the plate 4 enters a recess in the base of the sleeper, but with concrete sleepers 1 reinforced with wire cables 2, the plate 4 is inserted in transverse slots in the sleeper. A slotted wedge 9 is used, having lugs 18 engaging indentures in the sleeper.
