Abstract

990. Stephenson, J. W. Jan. 12, 1912, [Convention date]. Chair keys; chairs with separate jaws.-Chairs 3, Fig. 2, have a rail-engaging jaw 4 and two jaws 5 inclined in opposite directions ; the jaws 5 are undercut and receive keys 8 which engage the rail base and which have bendable extensions 10 engaging in curved passages formed between the jaws 5 and a projection 12. The keys have a driving- head 13 and a projection 14 for knocking them out. In a modification, Fig. 4, a separate jaw 17 engages over the rail base and carries the central projection 12. The chair base may have recesses to receive lugs on the jaw 17 which extend under the rail base and the keys.
