Chairs, railway, are made with a detachable jaw b, Fig. 1, so that when the jaw is driven into a dovetailed recess in the chair base, it secures the rail in position without the use of keys or wedges. The base portion of the jaw b is in the form of a double wedge, the side b<5> being inclined to the rail, and the base inclined to the horizontal, as shown by the broken lines in Fig. 3.
