Abstract

Screw and like propellers. - Flexible blades made from thin metal the weight of which amounts to from 8 to 20 times the air pressures, are strengthened at the leading edge and at two points on the root at the connexions with the hub frame. These connexions permit of a swivelling movement. The thin metal plate g is connected at a, b as well as along the leading edge h. The connexions comprise, as shown in Fig. 3, universally-jointed links e, springs f fixed on the hub and connected with the blades providing an initial stability. The plates g may be made thicker toward the centre.
