Screw propellers. - The propeller, especially applicable to aeroplanes, comprises blades a, curved in cross-section so that the trailing edge a<1> is at right-angles to the face of the blade. At, and near the ends of, the blades, concentric surfaces c, c are arranged, being joined by a surface d parallel and similar to the surface of the blade a. A box-like open-ended structure is thus formed, having an outlet e of reduced area causing a compression of the air to take place. Above the surface d, short continuations of the surfaces c may be fitted to increase the efficiency.
