17,074. Heinz, A. July 18. Screw propellers.-The blades b of screw propellers are formed of flat plates, and are mounted on radial arms. The inner and outer edges of the blades b are fitted with inclined vanes c, normal to the surface of the blades b, which deflect the fluid impinging on them during rotation towards the centre of the blade. The vanes c may also be arranged to swivel on the blades b by means of levers.
