13,001. Neuburger, H. June 3. Magnetic compasses.-Consists in the combination with a magnetic compass A of a portable battery lamp C, which can also be used for inspection and like purposes. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the compass is pivoted at E and can be turned down on to the lens H of the lamp when not in use: a spring F maintains the compass in either the raised or lowered position. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the stem B to which the compass A is secured can be swung about the horizontal pivot G. In a further modification, the lens is in one face of the lamp casing, and the stem to which the compass is attached slides vertically in this face. The lamp may be provided with a hookring for attachment to the belt.
