Abstract

8131. Horch & Cie, A. April 29, 1911, [Convention date]. Working-fluid supply. - Gaseous mixture, after firing, is allowed to do work on another previously-fired charge, and is then forced into the turbine by the expansion of a charge subsequently fired. Double cylinders 3, 4 are arranged between turbine wheels 1, 2. Pistons 5, 6 and 7, 8 are carried by rods 5', 7<1>, and valves 10, 10<1>, 10<2>, 10<3> are passed into bores in the rods and operated by stops at the required times. The inner suction chambers and the outer explosion chambers are connected by valved pipes 9. Ignition devices 11 are controlled by the pistons, which on moving outwards suck in gas from the carburetter 16. This gas is then passed to the explosion chambers of the other cylinder, where it is fired and expands to force out, through the opened valve, a previously fired and expanded charge, which enters the turbine at constant pressure.
