Tangential-cylinder engines; revolving-cylinder and reciprocating-piston type.-In a revolving- cylinder engine in which the cylinders are arranged tangentially to a circle d‹ concentric with the main shaft c, a cam driving-track d is so constructed that the portion engaged during the power stroke by the rollers on the pistons a forms a portion of an involute of the circle d<0> so that the roller pressure is normal to the track. A construction for obtaining a track suitable for an internal-combustion engine is described. The curve, Fig. 3, is arranged so that the pistons are nearer the bottom of the cylinders at the end of the exhausts than at the end of each compression.
